Thanks for coming. We were happy to see you there.

I agree that the venue could have been better, but we were working on everyone's largesse, a paucity of funds and time, and putting this together purely with personal resources, connections and the like. Certainly we respect your reactions, but the tone has left us both dissappointed and discouraged.

When Gurucharan and I thought of inviting you, it was because we both spontaneously felt that given your rich experience with the arts and the cultural diversity you have had the chance to experience, you might enjoy the event. I am sad that this was the opposite of the case.

None of us are event organizers. We are measly artists, and certainly appreciate feedback. But the supercilious tone of this and abject dismissiveness of "family and friends" (which seems to be a subject of derision for you, judging by tone)seems to set me thinking if everyone in the art and literary worlds cannot exercise a small iota of "humane" tolerance and guided encouragement in the place of blanket criticism, unfavourable judgment and a total lack of empathy to the amount of personal turmoil each of us is presently facing in the world without, on top of which we endeavour to support our friends through such events.

I am sorry that it did not meet your expectations. I am also sorry that our naivete was forced on you when you could have enjoyed the evening elsewhere.
